Tomcat:
Honestly I'm the new kid I know I gotta prove it
all I knew was music so I dedicate
my life to pursue it, my life to produce it
I'm addicted to the rhythm so you know I'll never loose it
The reason I'm stressed, the way unwind,
the reason that I look tired all of the time
my number one past time tattooed in my heart
like a blood line step into my grandfathers shoes.
Man Cub:
From eleven a veteran of self betterment
letting 'em test my temperament harsh
getting a lesson with dexamphetamine
I was fed 'em repetitively in class
expected to accept that I wasn't acceptable
was in this time that I found my art
whether rejected or accepted didn't matter to me
'cause then that spell was cast.
Tomcat:
At thirteen I learnt how to play the guitar
by fifteen I was playing bass and ripping it up
I went from heavy metal, jazz, all the way to funk soul
but by twenty one found myself at a crossroad
Started making beats but with no MC
'til a wise man taught me just to look inside me
I picked up a pen and put my pad to work
I got a mic' a PC and put my thoughts to words.
Man Cub:
Learn to verge on genius
I'm not so humble but my thoughts are my own
merge the words it's seamless
I'm not one to stumble but I know what I know
It's grown from the flow and it's dawned on my bored brain
thoughts taught aught to force my flaws abstained
from the same mundane path well verse words heard
never meant to last...
Tomcat:
Now I'm twenty three and I'm completely broke
and all I got to give are these songs I wrote
but next time the world has got me by the throat
I'll know that dreams only cost an ounce of hope
'Cause once upon a time that is all I owned
has anything changed here I don't know
all I really know is I don't wanna be alone
put my hat on my heart 'cause that's where I call home.
Man Cub:
Hitting 'em with a minimum of a million synonyms
spinning 'em into rhythm and blues
singing em into the ether even if it never seems
to prove that these are the truths
that I choose to fuse to form my views
that I use to amuse my muse with music
I use it never abuse it or confuse it
with lucid dreams, I say what I mean...
